Do Light Truck Tires Need Higher Pressure Than Car Tires?

A light truck has unique tires and requires a different set of air pressure than a car. This is because light trucks are more likely to use a wide variety of tires. The tire manufacturers developed a wider variety of tires for light trucks in the 1960s. Since then, tire companies have been able to create lighter and stronger tires to meet a wider variety of demands.

For the correct pressure, check the load range of your tire. Light truck tires have load ranges, which are a number that indicates the maximum load that can be carried by each tire. A tire with a load range of C indicates that it can carry a load between 35 and 50 psi. A tire in the load range D or E will handle a heavier load.

You can check the pressure of your light truck tires by following the manufacturer’s recommendations. Some vehicles may require higher pressure than those of a car, so it’s important to pay attention to the recommended pressure. If you’re unsure of the correct pressure for your vehicle, check your owner’s manual or the inside of the driver’s door for information. Make sure to check your tire pressure regularly.

While it’s important to understand that the psi values of a car and light truck tires are different, it is important to note that a car’s psi rating will always be lower than a light truck tire’s maximum. The maximum pressure on a car’s tire is around 35 psi and a light truck tire has a load index of 110 or more. The maximum psi is typically lower than the recommended psi.
